The invasion of Ukraine
perpetrated by Russia last February, about to complete one year of
the invasion, has returned to the world the fear of a conflict on a
global scale. And the world looks to the United States and its
European allies, some to be certain that there is a common defense
against totalitarianism and territorial aggression, and the others to
gauge the ability of the United States to lead that defense. Even
achieving peace talks that lead to a ceasefire and an end to military
operations, it would only be an armistice like in 1918 because Putin
and his regime will not renounce their intentions to reconquer by
force what were previously territories of the Empire. Russian first
and from the Soviet Union later. Going back to the Cold War in a
world divided and confronted will only bring about the end of harmony
and international cooperation that are so necessary in the face of
the challenge of climate change and the search for clean energy
alternatives that replace fossil fuels.
Democracy
houses within it freedom of opinion and the guaranteed right to
defend ideas and ideologies through dialogue and the search for the
greatest possible consensus. The propaganda of the Russian global
communication media, and the rest of its totalitarian allies, convey
the image of democracies that discriminate against part of the
citizenry, that democracy as a system is decadent and corrupt. It is
necessary to make citizens aware that, in the face of a military
aggression, only unity and the certainty that democracy is a just
cause that deserves to be defended. The war will only end with a
total victory of the democratic theses over the totalitarian ones and
any agreement that does not entail the resignation of all the members
of the UN to territorial expansion will only be a parenthesis and not
the peace that returns to the path of progress and development That
can only happen in a democracy.
No
one and nothing is above democracy whatever their rank and condition.
Anyone who has tried to have democracy in the United States viciously
assaulted to alter the outcome of the elections cannot return to hold
public office in addition to facing the legal consequences of their
actions. The allies of the United States also know and suffer from
those who, taking advantage of the protection of democracy, attempt
to assault it. And behind it is the interference of Russia and its
supporters who play to have a social explosion in the democracies
that lead to seek an agreement in Ukraine favorable to the Russian
theses. If they succeed, there is no doubt for a moment that the
Chinese communist regime would begin its own expansion of territory
and influence by threatening US allies in the region.
2023
is the first year of the 21st century because a new world order is
emerging that will flourish on the ashes of the war in Ukraine. It
can be the world of dictatorship or it can be the world of democracy.
Everything else is relegated to the background because if the war
continues to advance and totalitarianism triumphs, everything will
vanish like a dream to live in a nightmare. No ideology or religion
can prevail in a democracy, the only political system that offers
opportunities at the individual and collective level. Strengthening
democracy in all areas and its institutions is the best defense
against Russian imperialist aggression, not for the Russian people
who only aspire to a life that offers prosperity and development, it
is the war of Mr. Putin and his regime at the cost of blood of
Russians and Ukrainians. We have not started this war and it must end
with a defeat of the aggressor and serve as a warning to the Chinese
communist regime that territorial aggression will only lead to the
end of the communist regime.
God bless America
