THERE IS NO CHRISTMAS IN WAR

Can you hear the carol

that sounds between the trenches?

There is mud and humidity

without bright lights

of Christmas, they are lights

dim and hidden

Can you see the tree

among the ashes decorated?

There are no more trees

broken by the projectiles

burned to the roots

there are no presents, only death

Can you hear the children

playing happily at Christmas?

The children are training

while their parents

fight and die

disappear

There is no Christmas in war

death does not wait

but the invader despairs

because Christmas in Ukraine

is a war for freedom

for humanity

for you
