THE NIGHT BEGAN IN UKRAINE

The darkness of the night

looms over Ukraine,

no stars, just darkness

that the invading night will impose

When you look at the sky

darkened and muted

with the thunder of war

announcing a lightning bolt of destruction

And when the crying and the pain

make you raise your gaze to the sky,

no stars, only darkness

with the war in your window

you will say with sadness

the night began in Ukraine
